Watch this video for an Easy Way To Peel And Seed Tomatoes.

Tomatoes, which are part of the nightshade family, are definitely Paleo. However they contain lectins, which many people avoid (people in the AIP protocol for example).

According to Dr. Steven Gundry, a cardiologist, heart surgeon, medical researcher, and author of “The Plant Paradox”:

“Nightshades are vegetables that include eggplant, any kind of pepper, potatoes, and tomatoes. The peels and the seeds of these plants contain loads of lectins, too. Make sure to peel and deseed them or pressure cook or ferment them. All these techniques reduce the amount of lectins”.

While we recommend using a pressure cooker, if you want to add another step to reduce lectins, you can peel/seed your tomatoes.
